History
The land that the Golf Club occupies was left in trust by the Moreton family to the then Redland Shire Council to be used as a golf course.
In 1984 a group of older residents of the island leased the land from the council for a 6 hole golf course and carved the six holes out of the scrub area by hand. They had little equipment and most of the mowers were lent to them by other residents.
As time went by volunteers accumulated second-hand equipment from other golf courses and continued with the development of the course until 1991 when another 3 holes were added to make it a respectable 9 hole golf course.
To this day our dedicated volunteers (some in their 80’s) still fully maintain our course for our members and visitors to enjoy.
Awards
In 2009 our golf club was awarded from the Redland City Shire Council the Water and Waste Business Environmental Conservation Water Award.
